I grew up in the south of England enjoying football just as much as the next lad, but I never supported the England football team. Germany was and is my team – first West Germany, and then when the Berlin Wall fell, Germany as one nation.
Other than admiring the sheer brilliance of the German players I’ve watched over the years, I guess the main reason why I supported them was that I had several German ‘nannies’ when I was younger; exchange students from the local college, and although I was too young to remember them clearly, I do remember that I enjoyed their company and was fascinated by their accents and the things they taught me. I grew up then wanting to go there and visit Bavaria and the castles, and eat the wonderful bread and cakes, and so on, and I thank the Lord that over the years as a husband and father, my family and I have enjoyed many a trip to Bavaria, Black Forest, Hannover, and other places.
Another reason why I never liked the England football team was because they (and the attitude within the country) always thought they were the best. “Football’s coming home” – as if it’s always been about England. But really, they were one of the worst, boring teams out there, and deep down everyone knew it, but they could never admit it.
Anyway, personally, I’m glad they lost the first final in 55 years last night. By the way, thank you to those believers in the UK that did tune in to the Know the Truth live chat last night instead of watching the football. It certainly was an interesting time full of attacks from the enemy, and I really appreciate your fellowship and support.
I’m glad, I believe, the Lord taught the England football team, and the people, a lesson by allowing them to be humiliated again going out on penalties, and on their own turf! You see England didn’t deserve it (in fact no country deserves it really with how they have all behaved during the last couple of years). The British people have made no effort to stand up to their corrupt, totalitarian government, no effort to call out the disgusting dictatorship that we have seen in Boris Johnson, no effort to question the stupidity of Matt Hancock and his pathetic ‘huge-shares-in-pharma-companies’ scientists, no effort to demand proper televised debates between those opposed to lockdowns and masks, no effort to protect the elderly and children against the killer experimental ‘vaccine’ but instead fully embracing it and mocking those who don’t want it, no effort the protect the children from the prison rules of school and the mentally damaging effects of constant mask wearing, and of course the main one, rejecting God and His word.
They also don’t deserve it (and never have) because of their stupid, childish, violent fans. Fans who always embarrass themselves and the country and indeed the team, whether England win or lose.
So, good. The England football team lost the final, and in the way they dreaded the most. Perhaps it will humble many people, and get them to see that there is more to life than winning a trophy. Like the fact that the world is rapidly falling apart around them, that their freedoms are being stripped from them because of their apathy, that their very soul is at stake as they fast approach the Tribulation, and ultimately, that Hell awaits them if they don’t believe the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ before it’s too late.
Yep, much more important than 11 chaps kicking a leather circular object around for 90-minutes (or more appropriate for last night, 120 minutes and then penalties!).
In Christian love,
